One's own voice

Jami tonight questioned albeit in a good way my love of Joycean language, the portmanteau words, the punning, the paragraphs thick with allusions, cramming ancient and modern together. I suppose she has a point. I give myself over to a shear enjoyment of the possibilities of language. And I enjoy the obscurity too, the chance to play out all the creativity I possess. But the development of a voice and the development of it is something more to the point.

[another relic of the past. Tonight, mentioned here, was back in 2007]
