Some time ago I was explaining to Jami Moss Wise the lineaments and marrow of comedic excellence : this being the motivation behind my seeming fruitless repetition of one particular joke - the content of which is unimportant now. As I explained to her then, mining comedic gold is sometimes a precise and laborious process, much like obtaining uranium from pitchblende: the explosive reward is certain; it is only a matter of striking the material with the right speed and the appropriate stick.
